Baisagu, one of the most popular seasonal festival of the Bodos, which means the start of the new year is a Boro word which
originated from the word "Baisa" which means year or age, and "Agu" that
means starting or start. Hence, 'Baisagu' the starting time of the year
or age. This year Bwisagu started on 14th April, where a large number of people were seen enjoying the beauty of nature with songs, dance and special musical instruments like Kham, Siphung, Serja, jotha etc.
The festival is boosted up with the "Baokungry Festival" where thousand of people were seen in the Baokungri hill side of Kokrajhar district merrymaking, starting from young to old. Hiking on the stiff rough hill are seen, variety of foods from different ethnic groups added a flavor to the event. The beauty of Bodo Homeland is flowering with the colorful festival.
